Despite the relative obscurity of the Japanese language, the Japanese
movie industry has produced some directors whose finest works
rank highly among the world's best movies.
Kurosawa Akira is the best known and most
accomplished but there are others.
This section has a number of profiles of people who have established
themselves in the Japanese movie world. The number of profiles
was getting so big that the page was becoming unwieldy. So, I've
