Like O-bon, the exact date of the Tanabata festival will vary from place to place, and it's celebrated in lots of cities across the country. It's usually celebrated on either July 7 or August 7. One of the most famous festivals is held in Sendai and this year they're holding it in August, over the weekend of the 6-8th.
