Hello there! Can I have some help?
10/20/09 at 05:48:34
Hello there,
I seriously need some help because I'm stuck with making letters.
I'm seriously bad at making letters in Japanese.
Now I got a small issue here and I would like to get as many help as I can.
I got to do for Japanese evening class a small task.
It's actually a Role-playing game that we have to do as homework.
I must make a letter and it has to goes a little bit like this:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------
Dear *Annelies/san-dono/sama? / collegue*
My student *Hiroki* has informed me that you got a small funny problem during your stage in Japan about the word MoMo.
As you know Momo has various meanings:
百:hundred
ヒャク ビャク もも
HYAKU, BYAKU, momo
桃: peach tree
トウ もも
TOU, momo
股: thigh, crotch, yarn, strand
コ また もも
KO, mata, momo
腿:thigh, femur
タイ もも
TAI, momo
I hope I could help you with this explanation.
With greetings of the home teacher of *Hiroki* *Fujiawara*san.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------
This is the basic letter so now I have several questions:
1) What is the japanese kanji for collegue?
2) What is the best word to approach/address someone in a letter?
3) How do you say : [My student *Hiroki* has informed me that you got a small funny problem during your stage in Japan about the word MoMo.
As you know Momo has various meanings] in Japanese?
4) How would you translate this in Japanese [I hope I could help you with this explanation.
With greetings of the home teacher of *Hiroki* *Fujiawara*san]
I was thinking of this:
Keigu (敬具) / Kashiko(かしこ) anneleen(アンイリン)/annelies(アンエリス)
私の学生宥貴はあなたの面白い小さい問題について私に 話しました。 言葉「momo」本当にいくつかの意味を持つ. 私はあなたがあなたに若干の例を与えることを望みます。
百
ヒャク ビャク もも
HYAKU, BYAKU, momo
桃:
トウ もも
TOU, momo
股
コ また もも
KO, mata, momo
腿
タイ もも
TAI, momo
and for an ending I would used this ==>
私はこれが助けになることを希望します。
敬具, 藤原。
Is my example correct? or are there huge mistakes in here?

First of all, you would just address the person you are writing to as "XXX-sama" if they are a colleague (or XXX-sensei, if they are a teacher or professor, etc).
When you are talking about your own student, you'd probably refer to them as "私の教え子" (watashi no oshiego).
Rather than use the direct "あなたの面白い小さい問題" you'd probably use the person's name, as in "XXX様の面白い小さい問題."
Better - 「momo」という言葉には、いくつかの意味を持っていますね。上のわずかの例が少しでも役に立つことを望んでいます。
Now that last bit is definitely not what a native Japanese would write, but it is at least grammatically correct, I think.
And finally, a home tutor is called a 家庭教師.
I hope this helps!

(So does this makes a good letter now? and how would a japanese native say the ending? because i want to make it sound like my teacher would say : I hope this helps your small MoMo issue)

How must it be said then?
My mom isn't here so I can't ask for advice.
And Tenno Heika-sama is this how it then should be:

Okay, here you go. There is a bit of repetition in the previous version, so just go with this.
教え子の宥貴クンはアンイリン先生の面白い小さな問題について私に話しました。 「momo」という言葉には、いくつかの意味がありますね。例えば:
百
ヒャク ビャク もも
HYAKU, BYAKU, momo
桃:
トウ もも

股
コ また もも
KO, mata, momo
腿
タイ もも
TAI, momo
これが何か役に立てばいいと思います。
